The Greenfield International Stadium in Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram, will host a One Day International (ODI) cricket match between India and West Indies on November 1, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday. The state capital will host the final ODI in the five-match one-day series. The Day and Night match will start at 1.30 pm on the Kerala Piravi Day.
“We have received an email from the BCCI Tours and Fixtures Committee, which confirmed that the state will host the fifth ODI in the India-West Indies series,” said Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) secretary Jayesh George. Earlier, KCA had taken a lot of flak for preferring to host the match at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi which would have required the digging up of the newly-laid football turf at the venue.
Following protests from footballers, politicians and cricketers, the KCA decided to drop their plan. The Windies are scheduled to tour India during October to November and will play two Tests, five ODIs and three T-20 internationals. This will be the second international cricket match to be played at the stadium.
