A 33-year-old youth, Ottappalam-native Murugan, was rescued from a lioness by Thiruvananthpuram Zoo authorities when he jumped over the walls of the cage.
The native of Palakkad district’s Ottapalam, climbed over the cordoned area of the zoo where the two-year-old lioness, Gracy was kept and started provoking the lioness.
The zoo who rescued Murukan from the jaws of the lioness said that the youth climbed over the iron grill around the cage and later climbed over the wall and entered the cage around 12 noon.
In the video, Murugan could be seen moving deeper into the enclosure and that too, on four limbs.
Arshad along with seven other guards joined the rescue operations and finally Murkan was taken out the cage.
P Prakash, Trivandrum City police Commissioner told that Murukan was missing from his home in Ottapalam since February 18 and his family members had lodged a missing complaint and published newspaper advertisements about him. Police is probing the case and Murukan has been admitted in the hospital.
